Back to the blog;
I took some time off the ole cobra. Was messing around with rewiring my harley, bought a 71 triumph chopper and having a blast with my son, Grypon. Anyway, I did do some stuff. I went and had my roll bar powder coated at Best Blast of New Jersey. They did a really great job. A real young guy runs the business with his wife. Poor guy had all his equipment stolen too...insurance company was jerking him around. I also got my seats upholstered too. They were originally black but I wanted them to match the dashboard. I think with the british racing green paint, these will really look nice.
This weekend, I jumped back into work on the car. First, I routed the fuel tank vent. I ran it through the wheel well and pointed it up along the wheel well corner. Second, I installed a Moroso Recovery/Purge tank for the radiator. I was debating where to install it. I actually found a space right next to the radiator. Both relief valves are right next to each other! I also put in coolant for the first time (was running just water) since the temp here in New Jersey has fallen 30 degrees in one week. Don't want my block to freeze!! Need to actually increase the mixture. Finally, I still can't get my clutch fork to work. Throwing around some ideas on the Hurricane board. I have 6 things to complete before putting the body on the cobra:
1.) Get the clutch to work!
2.) Oil cooler: I found this cool oil thermostat that I need to configure but should allow me to take advantage of an oil cooler without running too cool. This will be an all day affair as I also have to figure out the oil cooler shroud, etc.
3.) Install foam seal on all the body mount surfaces
4.) Check to make sure the reverse gear for the reverse speedometer works!
5.) seal exhaust leaks frim headerto side pipes with copper permatex
6.) insert vortex baffles into side pipes
I won't be able to touch the cobra for 2 weeks as my parents are coming to town to see Gryphon and to attend his baptism.
