Engine is finally FINALLY in...time to get back "on manual":
I have been a bit busy so haven't been able to write. I was in Seattle last weekend visiting my family. But before I went, my lovely wife Eva helped me install the engine for the final time. Poor woman...she came out in the garage Saturday morning offering me more coffee then she found herself on the transmission end of 900 pounds of engine on a crane. I couldn't have done it without her though. It fit in the frame like a glove....or more like the gooey innards of a clam in the shell. Man....these guys that thought of shoving such a HUGE engine in a tiny car were totally, certifiable insane. NUTJOBS.....what does that make me?
Anyway, once the engine was in, I was able to start working on items that are not in the build manual that Hurricane sent. I sent out my exhaust headers and side pipes to Jet Hot Coatings to get a black satin ceramic coating to cut down on temperatures in the engine bay. They came back in great shape. I also ordered my driveline. I should get it tomorrow. I also did a final install of the clutch master cylinder, fueline to the fuel pump, radiator expansion tank, the remote oil filter and the front rims and tires. Once the the drive shaft comes, I will install a driveline safety loop, some radiator hoses, the remote oil cooler and lines and speedometer cable into the transmission. Oh...and I have to install the termination of the battery cables on the starter and ground (TBD on ground location). Then finally, I will put a coat of hurculiner on the bottom of the cockpit and trunk tubs. Once that is done, I will start the marry road of electrical wiring, etc. Pics below for your enjoyment! Don't forget that if you click the picture, it will show you a bigger picture:
