Oil Temp Sensor, Wiring Fan & Horn wire/install:
Wow....I am waiting for the locust to show up. Not only have we had a flood here in NJ but on Thursday, the house next door burned down. They are good friends of ours so we have been helping them and their four kids cope while they figure stuff out. We have had just crazy stuff going on that is really keeping us busy here. Regardless, I have been able to get some items done on the car.
Oil Temp Sensor:
As I previously wrote, the plug in the oil pan was being a pain in the butt. Only after two broken wrenches, a bruised finger and a ripped finger nail was I able to get that SOB out of the oil pan. I finally had to buy a really big allen wrench and use a pipe for leverage. As you will see in the photo below, the socket driver doesn't have much room to move between the pan and the frame rail. The allen wrench I used allowed for the leverage and the space to get it done. Stupid me...I forgot that the pan was full of oil and as soon as I got the plug out...gush....OIL! But not in the Jed Clampett sort of way... Anyway, the sensor installed without a hitch!
Wiring Fan:
This was an easy task. I made sure I understood which (+/-) combo would pull/push the fan by hooking it up to my car battery. Once that was determined, I wired it up! The manual has you splice the fan ground out for the horn set up.
Horn install and wiring:
This was pretty easy to install as well. The pictures pretty much tell the story below. The only weird thing is that I have some extra wiring for the horn in the harness that I can't account for. Once I do the smoke test with the wiring, I will be able to track down what is going on.
Next steps will be that wonderful smoke test I am dreading. I need to finish wiring the wipers and fan as well before I do the test. I will most likely wire the lights too just to makes sure the whole system works. After that, I will start the engine then if that works....put the body on! Then it will be off to paint, etc.
